My Italian Kitchen - First Impressions
You're probably thinking the same thing I was when I heard the news... FINALLY, we have an Italian restaurant in Seal Beach!
Under the ownership of Aaron Kweskin, who also owns The Hangout & The Hangout Too, My Italian Kitchen opened quietly this week. Aaron isn't a rookie and understands the importance of soft openings to test menu items and kitchen/staff abilities. When it comes to opening a new restaurant, he knows from experience that first impressions can sometimes be met with harsh criticisms.
Judging by the delicious food we enjoyed, the quiet opening will soon be a regular buzz among residents and visitors alike. According to Aaron, the menu will be changing regularly as feedback is received so you may not find the same items we enjoyed when you dine.
For our appetisers we enjoyed Cucumber Caprese & Prosciutto Crostini (both pictured below) were light & delicious. The Caprese is traditional Mozzarella, Cucumber, Tomato & fresh Basil with a Balsamic Drizzle. The Crostini offers a basil goat cheese smear topped with Prosciutto and Cranberry Jam.
Fortunately for me, my wife insisted upon ordering the Spinach Salad (pictured below) which a generous portion that can easily be shared by two. Aside from the fresh vegetables, a found a little bit of heaven with the Pancetta sprinkled through the salad (please excuse my fork attacking the salad in the picture).
For our main course, we decided to share three entrees, Linguine & Clams, Osso Buco & Butternut Squash Ravioli. While I was partial to the Linguine & Clams, admittedly I had already begun sampling some of the fantastic wines from their well-rounded list. **PARENTS** The Mac & Cheese meal and the Chicken Tenders (arguably the best in town) were a huge hit with our kids!
Aaron will probably kill me for sharing a picture of the wine list, but I think you should know the second most important reason to visit My Italian Kitchen. Pictured below is only the Italian Reds, though their selection spans several American varietals as well.
I hope your first impression of My Italian Kitchen is as enjoyable as ours (and you're dialing (562) 431-4306 to make your reservation). Please let me know what you think of My Italian Kitchen and tell Aaron that Nat sent you. Cheers!
